Sure, everyone loves feeds; RSS, ATOM, what-have-you.  And a feed integrated within the infrastructure is pretty rad; so that all the Facebook addicts don't have to click-click-click all the damn time(But maybe that's part of the addiction) but have you seen the profile?  Might as well send a tall guy with a pink fro wearing a multi-colored polka-dotted zoot suit to punch me in the face with neon-green flourescent lights attached to his fists.  I think that may just be a little more focused and less migraine inducing than their current profile page layout.  It could be blamed on the fact that Facebook is just inherently an info-heavy site(Privacy concerns are another article all-together, or atleast another section of this article) but it almost seems that no thought was put towards the design whatsoever.  "Great, thanks for all this info Face book, just lemme take a few aspirins before I continue with stalky-time!"  I guess the main gripe I have with it comes from the fact that I am a minimalist and a purist when it comes to design.  You really really have to have some good fucking information for me to digest if you wanna overload me like that.
The other concern about the new News Feed feature is privacy.  I mean, really, c'mon Facebook.  I know you're catering to the stalking-inclined but atleast try to be a little furtive about your operations.  What with the whole deal about Facebook possibly selling the information stored within their servers, they now release a feature that makes it easy to keep track of all your stalkees(I mean, everyone knows that 90% of all friends lists consists of people they don't talk to and 5% are people that they're stalking(All statistics are made up on the spot(And also, real friends don't need Facebook to keep in contact(Whoo, quadruple-nested parenthesis!))))  Don't doubt what I say, I know this for a fact.  Take, for example, my good friend Alex Sandoval (Sorry buddy, the public demands examples).  If, and when, he finds a human of the female variety that he takes a fancy to, he makes it mission critical that he gets atleast a first name and school.  Why for?  You might ask.  Well it's because he's a creep (That I love very much because he's my very best buddy) and he wants to be able to setup a connection with which he might use to perhaps contact and arrange some happy moments for sexy-time.  But he's not really that huge of a creep because everyone does this on Facebook, or if not, atleast MySpace(Which we're not even gonna touch).  There have been girls that I haven't shared more than two words with who have asked for friends-list privileges... to which I accepted(Yes, I know I can get rid of potential stalkers by just declining but that's not the point!).  But now, every single thing that you do whether it be tag a photo, commenting on something, or adding someone as a friend, all your "Friends" will be able to see it.  On the otherside, you'll be able to see more shit about people you don't care about, where before you could just as simply not check their page.  "Clutter not my Feed you insignificant flea!"
Alright, I'm fine with the mini-feed on the profile page on the whole, because it's not as easily accesible to everyone as they actually have to click on your profile to see it.  So to those who deem you not worthy of their time, no worries about privacy there, as they could previously see everything about you anyway, this just puts it in a nice chronological archival log.  The thing that really bugs me about it is the eyesore that it presents.  Atleast some sort of uniformity or organization of information would be nice.  That's like trying to read a database printout with no formatting.  Perhaps some distinction amongst all the different panes of info.  I donno, shit maybe even make use of some AJAX tabs or some shit.  I know profile sites like to churn out all their users according to cookie-cutter designs, but atleast make the mold somewhat pleasing to the eye if you're gonna force everyone's page to look like that.
With the evolution that Facebook is undertaking in breaking from an "Encyclopedic Page" formula in function, and turning more into a live friend-tracker, their aesthetics should also step away from the 'Yellow Pages' model and lean more towards the 'Blog' model in terms of layout and design.
